{Jessica Grooves To}: Boyfriend by Justin Beiber

Ya.  This isn't an embarrassing thing to post at all. *sarcasm*

ANYWAY - I can't get this annoying catchy song out of my head.
Truth be told, I like this cover better than the original.

So this will either make your ears bleed if you're not into mainstream music or it will make you clap your hands and dance around the kitchen while you do the dishes.  Like I did.

Enjoy, kittens!

PS My actual thoughts on Justin Bieber?  I like that he's Canadian and that he comes from pretty humble beginnings and got discovered by singing songs on YouTube.  There you have it. :)

{Jessica Shares}: Her Nighttime Routine

Is this not the oddest post, or what? :)
Anyway, doing a nighttime routine post has been on a my mind for a couple of weeks now.  I have a hard time shutting down my brain at night, so I have been trying to figure out a way to tune out, decompress and get quiet before I hop into bed.  I was first inspired by this post.  And not so much by what they do, but just by the post, in and of itself.
I know that my post about my own nighttime routine is a pretty simple post, it's not very exciting and it definitely does not include wicked-awesome photography (not that I ever have had wicked-awesome photography in any of my posts), but it's real to me.  And what's real to me, well, I write about.. :)  So here goes!

My goal was to get started on my routine between 9:30 and 9:45.  Clearly that didn't happen here.. haha.. ah well, it's gonna have to do...

Next, I take out some meat to thaw overnight for supper the next day.  At this time I usually try to decide what to make with it as well as side dishes.

Then I head downstairs to our room (yup, we have a lower level master bedroom), with my gym bag and throw it on the (unmade) bed.  I empty it out, throw the dirty clothes in the hamper and leave it on the bed to be packed again.

Before I put my pyjama's on, I wash my face.  I used to do it the other way around, but I honestly hate washing my face at  night (I don't know why!  It feels so good once it's done!) so I've decided just to make that the first thing I do when I come down to our room.  Over and done with it.  Love that.

Confession time:  I hate getting into an unmade bed at the end of the day.  Soooo, I quickly make it up (which the full understanding that it will be back to the above picture by morning) and my brain can have some form of sanity while I finish off my routine.  Ahhhh, I love you, made bed.

I quickly make up my gym bag for the next day.

Jammie time!  (and fuzzy socks... those babies on are my feet year round... the joys of a basement bedroom)

Then I stand for 2 hours at my closet and moan and complain that I have nothing to wear (haha)... Which some days, that's how I honestly feel... Anyway, I always like to have somewhat of an idea of what I am going to be wearing the next day.. sometimes it's an entire outfit, sometimes it's just an idea.. either way, it's nice not walking up with an empty brain when it comes to an outfit...

Then I meander back upstairs and have my nightly bedtime snack.  For this week it's been Fibre 1 cereal and almond milk.  And it's gonna be sticking around for a while too.. I realize it makes me sound like an 80 year old woman..  But seriously, it's so good and low calorie, too.  I'll check the weather for the next day while I'm at it and one last Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest/Blogger check.. ;)  See what I mean by "can't shut down"..?  I really should instate a rule that computer is off by 9pm and that is that.  After this I usually putter around the kitchen, tidy up the front entrance and make my lunch, too.

Annnnd that brings us to the end!  All done by 10:32!  Not bad, actually.  The key for me is to not get distracted.  That's why I think having a clear routine is good for me.  And now I sound like a 5 year old. haha.. from 80 year old woman to a 5-year old child... it's time I just start acting my age, no? :)

I also do my best to reserve a little time with God.  Praying and reading the Bible are really important to me and I like that to be the last thing on my mind before I go to sleep.  I'm not always as faithful in this area as I would like to be, but nonetheless, it is still important and I need to make time for it.

How about you guys?  Do you guys like routine or just fly by the seat of your pants?  The older I get, the more I realize I like to have a routine and I like to be organized.  I just function better.  This is also known as "stuck in her ways at 28".. haha.. oh please, I hope not!  haha... I like to think there is a difference to "a rountine" and "being stuck in her ways"... right?  Right?  Someone please back me up on this... haha..

I should just tweak my routine every month just to keep it fresh... ya, I like the sounds of that!
So, stay tuned next month when I take meat out of the freeze AFTER I wash my face and switch from Fibre 1 to Shreddies!

Earth-shattering, you guys. I know. :)

{Jessica Wears}: A Sweater in Spring

outfit: turquoise knit sweater, dots (no tag) | light pink tunic, gifted | olive green cord skirt, smart set
accessories: loafers, spring | pink tights, joe fresh | silver hair bow, h&m
Happy Friday friends!

Why, you might be asking, is a young and happenin' (hah!) chick like me at home, blogging on a Friday night?  :)  Right?  You're asking yourself that, right?
;)

Doubtful, but I'll fill ya in anyway.. :D

This has just been the type of Friday where where I do not want to do one domestic/work-related thing at all.  I wanted to walk through the door at 4:30, have Tyler waiting with keys in hand, asking me where I want to go for supper (well, I'd love to go to Earl's hun!  Thanks for asking!).  We'd stop at Menchies after for dessert (new frozen yogurt joint in town).  Then we'd head home where I would draw a bath, lather on an old school green face mask and basically clock out for the rest of the night.  I don't want to go to the gym, I don't want to make my lunch for the next day, I don't want to get my clothes ready for the next day, I don't want to take meat out the freezer for supper the next day, I don't want to do anything week-night related at all.

Well, instead, I had to make supper tonight (so lame.) and then for some reason I got the brainwave to switch out my fall/winter wardrobe to my spring/summer one.  If you follow me on Twitter, I've already complained about it there... Does anyone else find it a HUGE job?!  I feel like it's such an accomplishment when I'm done and really, it took me... hmmm...? maybe the better part of 45 minutes and that's it.
After I'm done, I climb the stairs like some warrior returning from the battlefield that is my closet and dresser. :)
After switching my seasonal clothes out, I took a bag of old clothes to Value Village (don't be jealous of my glamorous evening, you guys), ran an errand for a couple in our Wednesday night meeting (actually didn't mind doing that at all :)) and then decided to stop at Menchies and try it out for a reward of my efforts in the battlefield tonight.. haha..  At least one part of my fantasy night came true.
And yes, it was awesome.  And yes, I also tweeted about it.  :)
(You should all get Twitter and we can follow each other.  It's AWESOME.  *peer pressure*)

So the big closet switcheroo is done.....
.....and that leads me to this outfit.  :)

I wore this a few days ago... it's been such a grey couple of weeks here... rain, cold and just dull.  Bare trees.  Brown fields.  The greenery is taking it's sweet time showing up on lawns and shrubs.  Just .... bbblllaahhh... (say it really slow with your tongue out.  Ya, like that. Perfect).
So, a sweater seems perfectly reasonable in this weather.  And the bright turquoise colour with the pink chevron print make it spring-appropriate.  Also, the cord skirt is now put away for a few months (cord = fall fabric.  Totally, right?) so I wanted to give it a proper farewell, considering it's a fave of mine. :)

Oh and just for an FYI, I'm wearing blue and yellow today after being all inspired, but the outfit fell a little flat, I think.  I might take pictures of it anyway and post them another time if nothing better comes along to talk about. ;)

Sorry if I sound kind of bitter and cranky in this post.  I really should play out the rest of my evening and draw a bath and do a face mask.  It might improve my mood.

A little Michael Buble and some tea sounds fab, too. :)
Done and done.

{Jessica is Inspired}: By Blue & Yellow

All images via my Pintrest board

There is something about the classic combo of blue & yellow that just shouts, "Hurray! Spring!", isn't there?

For a while, I used to consider these colours really dated.  When I was in middle school and planning my wedding (hahaha), I wanted my colours to be blue and yellow so bad.  And so did all my friends.  And cousins.  I wore out the blue and yellow colour combo so bad, that from high school and beyond I never wanted to revisit it again.

But that was 1995 (what?!?!) and it's 17 years later (ohmigosh!!!), so I think it is safe to say in my mind, the blue-and-yellow combo can now move from the "dated" column to the "classic" column.
That makes me happy, but also makes me feel really old.

What has been inspiring you lately?
