I love to shop.
But I hate spending money.
Truth.
This hasn't always the case (that part about spending money. Not about shopping. I've always loved that.), but after some "heart-to-heart budget meetings" with Tyler and learning the art of
shopping my very own closet, I can, with a degree of certainty, say that I have found that delicate balance of shopping responsibly.
So when I hit that sweet spot of finding exactly what I want and it fits my budget, in my head, angels sing and rainbows explode. I kid you not.
Anyway. Long intro.
More to the point, I just wanted to share some recent purchases. Ha. Purchases. Let's not be so vanilla.
More like: sweet mother-of-pearl scores from the back of the store on a dusty sale rack with about 6 red mark-down stickers on them and a big sign swinging above saying "TAKE AN EXTRA 30% OFF THE SALE PRICE!!" kind of purchases.
Wow. Still a long intro. I'm like a train. Takes me a while to get going, but once I do, you can't stop me.
Two gift cards were burning a hole in my wallet, so those needed to be spent. Obviously.
The first one?
A sweet surprise on our anniversary from Tyler.. Love him.
We said "no dinner, no gifts, no nothing" this year.. or least for a month or so.. with the move, it just wasn't feasible. I didn't even get the man a card. :(
Turns out, he made the effort to get me a gift card and the sweetest anniversary card ever. It had to do with shoes. Seriously. He knows me so well. :) Best surprise ever.
Out of that gift card, I scored these babies at Aldo. The fringe suede sandals were $22 (!!!!!) and the cognac wedges were $38 (!!!!!). I am super picky about what I buy now because I want it to last and I want it to go with everything that is already in my closet and well, I just want to spend my money wisely.. Let's just say these two pairs of (sweet & precious) shoes are some pretty big check marks off the shoe list! Whoo!
Rather boring colour choice, I know, but seriously, they go. with. everything. And who can say no to that?
Details. :)
I could go on and on (more than the shoes) about this skirt, but I'm just gonna leave it at this: it's an Anthro score..marked down twice with an extra 25% off the sale price. It's the happiest shade of yellow you have ever met in your life.
And it has pockets. Pockets make life better. That is just the plain truth.
Trimmed in satin, lace over-lay with a silky lining. It's girly deliciousness. :)
This Anthro skirt was not a gift card purchase, but I figured I could part with the $30 and make the investment. ;)
This last item falls into that "last but certainly not least" category.. It's a Calvin Klein pencil skirt from Winners. With a broken back zipper. :(
But for $16, I took the plunge. I think a tailor can make the frown turn upside down for a pretty reasonable price. Now to just get that job accomplished before convention. Which is in one week. Oy.
This skirt is extremely well-constructed. The stitching, the quality of material and even the buckles just seem to have substance. Does that even make sense? haha.. anyway, it seems the zipper didn't quite measure up to the standard of the rest of the skirt, but I honestly don't think it's the zipper's fault. I think it's the people who have tried it on before and just reef on it. Boo to people who don't take kind care of good quality clothes. Even when just trying it on.
{However, I do like that $16 price tag, so I'll forgive you just this once.}
This skirt was also bought with a gift card.. and I still have a bit of room left on it... Winner's sale racks had better look out cuz I have about $24.57 (about) left and I can do some serious damage with that kind of cash. :)
Ohhh man, all this talk of clothes makes me want to do an outfit post. Considering my last one
included a sweater, I think I'm overdue for something a little more summery...
Hey, how about you guys? Any sweet scores you wanna share? Please doooo! I love to talk about clothes (no way. really?), so please dish! Until next time..

PS. Speaking of new purchases, I took all these pictures against our new light grey duvet cover. I seriously love it so much. Just wanted to share that. :)
